What it is
Sound healing, or a sound bath, is a deep relaxation session where sound takes centre stage: Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, gong, ocean drum and other instruments that resonate for a long time and fill the space. All you have to do is lie down and listen.
At Wellness Tribe we take it a step further with EKKO headphones: the facilitator plays the instruments live around you while their voice guides your breathing through the headphones, together with a layer of ambient sound that shuts out the noise outside. That way it works just as well in a quiet room as on a terrace or at the beach.
It is one of the simplest ways to switch off: your body lets go, your breathing slows down and your mind stops racing for a good while. Perfect to end a busy day or after a more physical activity.
How it works
- Arrive, pick up your headphones and set up your spot with a mat, cushion and blanket.
- A short introduction: what you will hear and how to lie down comfortably.
- Lie back as the guided breathing begins in your headphones.
- For 40-50 minutes the bowls, gong and other instruments play, live and in your headphones.
- A slow return, a few minutes of silence and some tea or water to finish.
